Duty of Parents Towards their Children
 
A Parents Duty towards their children falls under the 4th Commandment of Honor your Father and Mother, and they should love their children equally.
 
Parents should see their children as precious gifts entrusted to them by God where they will one day have to give a strict account for how well they provided education, a good example, and correction or too much indulging.

The Center Scene shows St. Ann, mother of Mary teaching Our Lady to read, while St. Joachim, father of Mary, watches with a tender interest. In this household, despite the Divine Providence of their daughter Mary, Ann and Joachim still show the Ten Commandments as a guide and reminder. 
 
The Top Right Scene shows Blanche of Castile teaching St. Louis to pray. She often told St. Louis, "My Son, I would rather see you dead than find you committing a mortal sin" This may seem harsh, but if our love is ordered correctly, then we must love God first so to be more loving parents, for without God, we are nothing but sin and spiritual death.
 
The Top Left Scene shows a nobleman correcting his son by making him ask for pardon to a poor man, whom his son scoffed at.
 
The Bottom Scene shows an example of high priest Heli who had two sons, Ophini and Phinees. The two sons were leading Israel away from the worship of God. This was a result of Heli having spoiled them by too much indulgence. Thus the Divine Wrath fell upon Heli and his two sons, for Ophini and Phinees perished to the Philistines and upon hearing this news, Heli fell back and broke his neck.
