The Second Coming of Christ
 
This beautiful Sacred Art represents the general judgement. Jesus is seated on the clouds, surrounded by angels, saints, and his apostles, who will judge with Him the Twelve Tribes of Israel. (Luke 22:30)

Jesus is preceded by His cross and by four angels sounding the trumpet to summon all men to judgement. The Blessed Virgin Mary is placed on His right and at the head of the elect. To these He addresses the consoling words, "Come, ye blessed of My Father, receive ye the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."
 
The avenging angel is on His left, driving the wicked before Him into the abyss of Hell, after the Sovereign Judge has passed on them this terrible sentence, "Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels." (Matt. 25:41)
 
“But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch. Watch therefore—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning lest he come suddenly and find you asleep.
